This huge work of 100% electrification has been completed by the Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board, i.e. the Rural Electricity Associations, on behalf of the Power Department. Till 2008, electricity was supplied to 85,252 customers through only 2 33 kV, 19 11 kV lines and 4 33/11 kV substations with a capacity of only 35 MVA under this association. At present, 4,57,092 customers have been connected through 12 33 kV, 97 11 kV lines and 18 33/11 kV substations with a capacity of 255 MVA. In addition, in order to increase the capacity of old lines and transformers, about 2632 km of lines have been replaced and 1518 transformers have been upgraded through the URIDS project and our own manpower and mini contractors, which has resulted in qualitative changes in the power distribution system and system losses are continuously decreasing. In addition, irrigation in agriculture, electricity connection to small, medium and large industries has accelerated socio-economic development by creating massive employment in rural areas and it is becoming possible to provide safe and quality electricity without much power outage. At the same time, in line with the growth of the technical infrastructure of POBIS, the number of new zonal, sub-zonal and complaint centers etc. offices has been increased and necessary skilled manpower has been appointed. In addition, multi-dimensional and diverse beautification and attractive working environment have been created, including the construction of "Vijay Toran" at the entrance of POBIS complex. As a result, customer service, customer satisfaction and the image of the association have increased to a great extent compared to any previous time.
Now our goal is to provide uninterrupted, friendly and safe electricity to everyone's homes. Therefore, we are working to complete the upgrade of the existing system by building sustainable infrastructure that can adapt to any adverse environment and gradually build smart meters, smart grids and smart substations to achieve the goal of automation system. We are preparing to build a sustainable electricity system with modern technology in line with the dream of generating 40 thousand megawatts of electricity and 60 thousand megawatts of electricity by 2041.
